Sunday 30th June saw Edenbridge RFC Under 13s putting in an excellent performance at the Oxted Pram Race. Report by Jamies Pearce of the U13s.

Edenbridge RFC Under 13s were out in force yesterday at Oxted’s annual Pram Race. The team managed to field three amazing prams, thanks to two brilliant Rugby Dads, Allen Algate and Allen Stavely.

On a beautiful sunny day, the three prams took to the streets of Oxted, participating in the yearly Pram Race, stretching from Master Park to a lovely pub in Old Oxted.

As the prams flew through the course, the crowds took great delight in drenching the teams with water bombs. However, the teams powered on, stopping frequently at the beverage stations, where it is compulsory to drink a half pint of squash for the kids, and a half pint of beer for the Adults.

After a gruelling hour and a half, the teams arrived one by one at the finish line, by The Old Bell in Old Oxted, where the adults had a pint and the kids played.

After this, everyone headed back to the Park for an exciting game of touch rugby followed by a delicious picnic with all the parents.

Edenbridge Rugby Club is a fantastic and friendly club. The kids meeting together every Sunday for a fun and exciting training session or a match. The drills are all helpful and challenging, improving stamina and ability. The overwhelming spirit encourages everyone to give it their best shot and heartens the crowd. I have been going to Edenbridge RFC for 5 years, and I have learned a lot from the coaches and my inspiring teammates. The age groups range from Broncos to Adults, with newcomers always welcome.
