Edenbridge RFC U7’s attend their first rugby festival hosted by Sidcup RFC
It was a fantastic day for rugby, even the cold weather didn’t dampen their spirits and they thoroughly enjoyed the day.
We were second up on the fixture list against Dartfordians. It was a very fast paced game with plenty of tries, we were all level at half time when the team changed for the super subs. Again we came out firing and kept up with the pace, it was 8-8 with 30 seconds to go, then we won the turn over and made the winning try. All very happy with our 1st win 9-8.
Second up was the home team Sidcup, from start to finish we played fast and effectively with some great passing, running and tagging. We won the match 7-4, thrilled to have a second win under our ‘tag’ belts.
We went into our 3rd game against the favourites Beccehamains very confident. It was a very tough match, with the opposition going ahead a couple of times, midway through the second half we turned the ball over twice and managed to go ahead and keep the lead until the final whistle, winning 9-8.
Our last game was against Bromley, we had a good pre match chat, I told them how proud I was and well they were playing together, we had won our first three games and that was a fantastic result so just go out for the last game and enjoy yourselves. At the final whistle we had won the game 8-4! What a result! Our first outing and we kept a 100% record.
I’d like to thank each player for making today a huge success, and parents for braving the cold with fantastic support from the touch line, cheering and supporting every player.
A special thanks must go to Simon Hindley for warming the players up before the games and being another coach from the sidelines.
Next up is our tour to Butlins and I believe this experience has put us in great shape for it.
