Autumn International Tickets

Club News

We have now received full details of our International Ticket allocation, which is as follows:

15th November Eng. vs Aus.   0 @ £85; 17 @ £71; 6 @ £ 60; 5 @ £52; 2 @ £41  Total tickets - 30: Total cost - £1909

22nd November Eng. vs S.A. ditto

29th November Eng vs  N.Z.   ditto

Also included is an application form for the match against the Pacific Islands on 8th November with no specific allocations but with the option to apply for Adult or Junior tickets at the following prices: £60/30; £58/29; £50/25 and £25/12.50. Provision is made on the application form for the request for adult and junior seats to be located together.

Finally there is an application form for the Varsity Match @ £35, £20 (£10 for students)

The closure date for our application to be with the RFU is 15th August. Application forms must be returned to the Hon Secretary by 8th August. In the case of the Australia, South Africa and NZ matches, applications should be accompanied by a cheque equivalent to £71 per ticket applied for payable to ERFC. Refunds will be made as appropriate once the allocation is settled. However should any member wish to restrict their application to a lower priced ticket, it must be clearly indicated to which matches the lower price applies and the cheque must represent the full value of the tickets applied for.

In the case of Pacific Islands and Varsity matches the cheque should cover the cost of the tickets requested.

Allocation of the tickets among the Club’s applicants will follow the arrangement instituted for the 2008 6 Nations, i.e. by a series of runs commencing with surnames at the end of the alphabet (for the 2008-9 season commence the allocation will begin at the beginning).

Ticket applications will be accepted only from club members paid-up for the 2007/8 season.

Ticket applications will initially be limited to two per member per match, with a column available to request additional tickets, if there should be any remaining at the end of the ballot. Members will see that if their main interest is a pair of tickets rather than the certainty of attending as an individual that they would possibly choose NZ, NZ, Aus, Aus rather than NZ, Aus, NZ, Aus..

The final allocation with all name details will be e-mailed to applicants. The dearer tickets will be allotted first.

New Look to Mini & Junior Pages

Site News We are currently redesigning the M & J Web Pages to fit in line with the Senior site. This will enable you to move around both major sections much more freely. In addition, we will be able to merge certain pages, Kit and Club Officials for example, saving duplication of content.

However, all the regular information for the younger rugby player will still be available from here, the Mini and Junior Home Page. We will be adding all the vital bits, including Fixtures (see below), Opponents and Directions, and Individual Team Pages, in the next few weeks, ready for the big start to the season on September 7th.

In the meantime, news and information will be updated as it happens!

New Shirt for the Junior Section

Club News Following the introduction of a new style of playing shirt for the 1st XV last season, the Junior Committee decided to adopt the design for all the youth age groups as well.

No Logo Replica Shirt_Thumb

These are quality shirts manufactured by Kukri made from a quick drying, light weight material; very much a modern day rugby shirt.

We appreciate, as parents, this is a considerable undertaking for all concerned. Consequently it has been decided to phase in the introduction to ease the transition to the new style shirt. So, next season will go as follows:

* The u7 and u8 squads will not change over until September 2009 (next season)

* Existing members re-registering for the 2008/09 season would have the cost of the first shirt in the new style subsidised making the cost £10 for that shirt. New players registering for the first time would buy the shirt at the normal price of £19.

* The 'Go Live' date fro playing will be December 7th, the date of the first SDD.

* Should an age group all have the new style shirts, we could consider their 'Go Live' date being brought forward.

* The committee felt that we did not want teams playing in mixed shirt designs.

Hopefully these arrangements will allow parents of existing players to purchase the new shirt at an introductory price, spread over a run in period and this will make the transition run smoothly. Your help and understanding will be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to seeing the kids looking fantastic in the new style shirt.

If you have any questions, please contact Nigel Gray, u11s.

Rugby Fit

Club News There is a new rugby orientated website starting up. Currently the site is not 'live' but it hopes to offer training and fitness advice along with the possibilities of discounted supplements and training kit. To do this they need to demonstrate to a potential partner company that they will have sufficient traffic to their website.

To help them achieve this, take a look at their Facebook page and become a member. There's more information on what they plan to offer etc available on Facebook.

Pre-Season Training Arrangements

Club News  Pre-season training will begin on Wednesday 2nd July for the Senior Section of the Club. There is still a week of touch rugby left, meeting down at the Recreation ground at 7.00pm this Wednesday (25th June) and playing 'til around 8.30 ish.

Also on the 25th June, the U14s will be training as usual with Rory. The date for the remainder of pre-season for the U14s is still unclear as the Club is attempting to organise Junior training over the Summer so that it does not clash with Cricket Nets. Stay tuned to both this website and to any emails from Colin Porter regarding arrangements for July onwards.

Don't forget Touch Rugby!

Club News Don't forget that Touch Rugby begins this week with the first session tomorrow (Wednesday 4th June) at 7.00pm down at the Rec. It's always good fun and is becoming a bit of an ERFC Summer tradition. The format generally runs that we meet up from about 7.00pm, have a good old run about until people decide they're tired/in need of a pint/the wife wants them home and then head off to the pub or back home. It's a good way to ease yourself back into training in preparation for the beginning of pre-season which will commence (as ever) on the first Wednesday in July (2nd) at 7.00pm.

It's no pressure and informal. If you're thinking about joining the club for the first time, this is a great opportunity to get to meet your future team mates and have a good laugh at the same time. If you're coming back from last year, just view it as an opportunity to blow out the cobwebs that have built up in the past month or so since our last matches. Next season is going to be a big challenge for both the 1st and 2nd XVs so the better the fitness levels, the more enjoyable the season will be for all concerned!

See you Wednesday!

Touch Rugby
