Player Scam Warning
From Kent RFU...
A young con man, well-known to police, 'joined' a local rugby club on Thursday of last week. He trained that night, appeared in the bar afterwards and was selected to play for our 4th team last Saturday. He went off injured halfway through the game and has allegedly helped himself to the contents of the team's valuables, and to one player's new Mercedes car.
This 'Player' (name known but not shown for legal reasons) has a track record of indentical crimes at Rugby and Football clubs.
The trademark showing up to training, drink in the bar and asking for a game, the injury before the end of the game, early shower, dip in the valuables and quick disappearance is part of his standard 1 game strategy with any new clubs.
ERFC would like to ask all player to vigilant against such threats and report any concerns to the committee.
