The best Rugby doesn't always win
Quality of the play was outstanding - just not the result we deserved
Outstanding start to the league campaign on a very early weekend in the season.
The result aside, everyone played for each other and executed generally very well. There was some good decisions made under pressure and we coped well with some of the more baffling refereeing calls.
The score should have been much closer with both Leon and Braidon crossing the line only to have their tries disallowed somewhat harshly.
Finally Adam rolled across the line and got the ball down to register some points.
Shoreham made the most of the offside line (and more!) and were cutting us off in the midfield by being half a yard further up the pitch than strictly legal. Their tries were mostly the result of a few errors in defense letting them through.
The number of injuries we sustained showed the commitment all the boys had and hopefully everyone is back fit for next week.
In a team performance such as today's man of the match was very hard but by unanimous vote it was given to Callum E who really stepped up his game and made some very good yards.
That is not to take away anything from the rest of the team as every player put in a great shift and played some of the best Rugby they have ever played.
Looking forward to our first home game at the Rec this campaign against Chichester which is likely to be a test but one we are more than capable of meeting if we play with the heart we showed today
Well done boys, lets keep it up.
